11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

ree

You would think that this is a simple enough task. The problem arises in discerning the evil that is around us. We think we have a good handle on it just because we are saved, and we have God walking with us, but the truth is we sometimes miss the little fox that slips in and starts to destroy our vine of contentment. This is where we are attacked at the most without even realizing it. One day we just are not as satisfied, and we go looking to find it.

Satan does not hit us with full on assaults it is usually that little feeling of “I can do a little better than this” instead of relying on God and being content in him I go to make myself better on my own. We follow after what the world tells us that just a few more things and you will be happy. Just a few more dollars and all will be well. We do not even realize that this “evil” has led us away from God until we no longer feel the closeness we once did.

You see Evil is not just a terrorist or a hateful person. Evil is anything that separates you from the Love of God. Let me be clear, you can only be separated if you walk away from Him, He will never walk away from you. It is the evil we follow that does this, not the large over the top evil but the small little things that separate us a little at a time. We are told it is just a drive to do better but when we move without God we are moving towards sin=evil. When we let a little dissatisfaction enter in and we do not take care of it immediately, it leads us to evil.

Beware my friend, evil abounds, and the day is sufficient for it. So, let us be watchful that the little evil des not come in and leads us where we do not want to be. Trust in the Lord, trust in the light, listen to that still small voice when it says, “don’t you will regret it”. We will find that we have a more contented life in the listening and following it than the following of something else.
